Governor’s School for the Arts Information Night

INFORMATION NIGHT

The Virginia Department of Education and the school divisions of Chesapeake, Franklin, Isle of Wight, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Southampton, Suffolk and Virginia Beach sponsor the Governor’s School for the Arts (GSA). Students enrolled in these school divisions are eligible to attend.

Students interested in applying for selection to attend the Governor’s School for the Arts for grades 9 – 12 may join Governor’s School for the Arts representatives to learn about the programs and the application/audition process

Governor’s School is tuition free and is located at The Governor’s School for the Arts at 254 Granby Street in downtown Norfolk. Transportation is provided by the individual school divisions. Instructional departments for the Governor’s School for the Arts consist of Dance, Instrumental Music, Musical Theatre, Theatre & Film, Visual Arts and Vocal Music. Students attend their home high school for classes in the morning and travel to Norfolk to attend three hours of GSA classes in the afternoon.

Talented students in this intensive and accelerated program may earn up to three high school credits each year. Approximately three hundred and fifty students in grades nine through twelve comprise the student body with over sixty professional artists, university professors and art educators providing instruction for the students.
